Intuitive Sculptures Series
Svenja Phoenix Altan's intuitive sculpture series is a collection of works that explore the full range of emotions, from joy and love to sadness and anger. The artist creates from a place of intuition, not ratio - tapping into her female energy and letting the material guide the process. The results are emotional and expressive, with bold colors and shapes that evoke a sense of mystery and wonder.
Altan's sculptures often depict female figures, but they are not always recognizable as such. The forms are often abstract and distorted, reflecting theartist's inner journey. The sculptures can be seen as symbols of the feminine power of creation, as well as the challenges that women face in a patriarchal society.
The artist's use of color is also significant. The bold, saturated colors of the sculptures are a reminder of the power of the subconscious mind.
One of the most striking aspects of Altan's work is her ability to express sadness in a beautiful way. Her sculptures often depict figures who are grieving, or struggling. However, the sadness is never overwhelming. Instead, it is balanced by a sense of hope, resilience and humour.
Altan's sculptures are a reminder that sadness is a normal part of the human experience. They offer us a way to connect with our own pain, and to find beauty in the darkness.
OK / KO Series
About the OK / KO series
The ceramic sculpture "OK/KO" is a bold and eye-catching work that confronts the double standards that exist in our society. The large, shiny letters of OK/KO are a reminder that what is considered acceptable for one person may not be acceptable for another, depending on their gender, race, class, or other factors.
The juxtaposition creates a sense of tension and unease, which reflects the underlying conflict that the sculpture is exploring. The letters are also rendered in a playful and irreverent style, which suggests that the artist is not taking the double standards of our society too seriously. The sculpture is a reminder that we can laugh at the absurdity of these double standards, even as we fight to change them.
"OK/KO" is a powerful and important work of art that is sure to spark conversation and debate.
Spirits Spirits Series
About the Spirits Spirits Series
Exhibition of 100 works. Materials: clay, glaze and pigments. Each individual work for sale.
One hundred little spirits tell a story of community, unity and individualism. Each spirit was created with a different emotion, intention and fantasy in mind, so no one is the same. They all coexist and compliment each other but can also be appreciated on their own - just like in the human realm.
The spirits serve as artifacts, a bridge that points towards the infinite, away from the material world. Their purpose is many, be it as altar objects, protection ghosts, lucky charms – a figurine that represents togetherness.
The spirits can embody emotionally charged life experiences and personal moments or serve as the representation of a person. They are a token for our own softness, strength and complexity – similar to the material they are made of: soft clay becomes stone. Stone becomes an object. The object holds a spirit.
Magic Monsters Series
About the Magic Monster Series
Svenja Phoenix Altan's Magic Monsters are modern totems, contemporary art pieces that combine beauty with a deeper meaning. These sculptures are inspired by the artist's fascination with mythology, folklore, and the natural world. Each monster is unique, with its own personality and story to tell.
Altan's monsters are often depicted as creatures of transformation, representing the power of nature to change and evolve. They can beseen as symbols of our own inner journey, as we each move through lifeand change ourselves along the way.
The artist's use of color and materials is also significant. The bright, boldcolors of the monsters are a reminder of the magic and wonder of theworld, while the natural materials used in their construction (such aswood, clay, and metal) connect us to the earth.
Altan's Magic Monsters are more than just beautiful objects. They arealso works of art that can inspire us to think about ourselves, our world, and the possibilities of transformation.
